Daydreaming of the Orient

India and Asia in Mutti’s collections

1st-30th April 2023

On Saturday 21 January, Brescia inaugurated the year that sees it as the capital of culture, together with Bergamo. A packed schedule of events, from figurative art to dance, cinema, exhibitions and concerts.

Baias arte is taking part in the events with an exhibition focusing on oriental art, especially from India, from the collection of a renowned Brescian architect, in the tenth year since his passing.

In April, you will be welcome in the gallery located at Borgo Pietro Wuhrer 41 where you will be able to travel with your mind to the colourful lands of Rajasthan through the miniature paintings of the various schools of that area and touch the peaks of Tibet and Nepal with the devotional bronzes from Giacomo Mutti’s collection and the photographs of his son Filippo, an engineer by training, traveller and photographer for pleasure.

The catalogue will be published with the scientific contribution of Dr. Isabella Nardi, art historian of the Southern Asia and specialist in Indian paintings. To her care will also be entrusted a guided tour of the paintings section on Saturday 15 April.

The exhibition will last one month and will end with an online auction of the exhibited works on Wednesday 3rd May.

Opening: Saturday 1st April from 5 p.m.

The Gallery and exhibition will be open every Saturday and Sunday of the month, from 3 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., and by appointment on other days.

Easter: closed.

Easter Monday: open 3-7.30 p.m.
